Block 105, L, 1…

Home from Home.

Oh well.

Fill in a scrap of paper.
A trip to the bank.
Drag a load of twenties out of the machine.
Nip down the M1 thingy.
Arrive at Arena.
Meet Mike O’Connor.
Give him the scrap of paper to read.
Hand over most of the twenties.
Shake hands.
Come home.

Just short of an hour used, and what do I have to show for it? A different piece of paper signed by the above Okey telling me I am skint, and also knowing that I am now the owner of 105, L, 1 and 105, L, 2 for approximately 75 hours on numerous occasions from early September 2013 to late March 2014 (or thereabouts).

I am hoping it is worth it, as last season left me somewhat bored and disillusioned. But that was last year. Now to look forward and see what happens.

Players comings and goings are already in the air with a few early announcements. Some returnees already, and a new face. The returnees are fairly predictable, Thomas, Hewitt, Phillips, as well as the two year contracts of Meyers, Goertzen, Fata and Jorgenson. So that leaves around 10 or 11 names for DC to fill in. One we already know, as Aaron Nell steps up from the EPL. 60 goals down there in that league, for Nell, wonder how many he will produce here. Fingers crossed that he can put up some numbers for us.

Who else?

Well, I’m not one of the speculators. I’ll just sit here with a pot of tea and see who gets announced. In between the announcements, I’m sure I’ll have my work cut out, patrolling the forum as the silly season starts gathering pace, and we get some daft ideas of players thrown into the pot, for all to argue about (Cory Sarich anyone?).

Then once we get to mid-summer, there will be all the usual topics springing up. No doubt the non-existent wage cap will rear up again, along with Nothingham producing yet more (non) evidence that we run the league. Can see us getting the annual discussion about intro music. The league will chuck a few announcements out as well, now that the money has been handed over. Maybe some rule changes, or even more conferences. Now there’s an idea, we could have 5 conferences.

Conf A. Steelers v. Stingrays.
Conf B. Blaze v. Devils.
Conf C. Flyers v. Stars.
Conf D. Clan v. Caps.
Conf Z. Giants v. someone else.

Perfect, and so simple to work out. Play each team in your own conference 3 homes and 3 aways, and play each team in the other conferences 3 aways and 3 homes. All points to count to the league trophy and winners of each group to go forward to any other cup competitions with 3 of the remaining 5 to be chosen on highest points gained.

More next time.

Mart.
